Living by the Eye

A wonderful addition to our Living By the Eye exhibit room is our collection of Grace Bilger paintings. Grace was a very talented artist but aslo an art teacher at the Kansas School for the Deaf. Her art work can be seen throughout the City of Olathe, in various government buildings. We are bery pleased to share a part of her collection with you.

Flashing lights, vibrators, strobes, captions, and video communications . . . all these are on display in our new deaf environment exhibit. Thanks to funding provided by the Johnson County Board of County Commissioners and Heritage Trust Fund, you can visit the accessible studio apartment of a young deaf woman who is benefiting from the technological advances of the past two decades. Access to visual communications and alerting systems supports an independent life style.

Stop by and experience “visual living”.  Become knowledgeable about technologies you may want to incorporate in your own home. This exhibit was developed by ESA Design (Ed and Linda Scheele), with interior design by Interiors by Design (Karen Mills).
